Hello Jimmy, on ebay are often testers that are put together in some working condition just to sell it quickly. This meter is 150uA, and many 150uA meters are around that look similar. What you need however is one with the same impedance. I would say, if the meter indicates all voltages correct, you are probably lucky and the right meter was used.

Hello!
correct impedance is 1450+-50 Ohm (R92+IP+R43)

Meter for my tester:

I think the meter on the left looks correct for my tester - Mka M24-87, production 1965, 719 oHm

What do you think?

You can measure the impedance with an Ohms meter. If the meter inside your L3-3 has the wrong impedance, it indicates all voltages wrong. So you notice that quickly enough. After replacement of the meter, you need to calibrate your L3-3 tester for the new meter. For this there is a miniature potentiometer somewhere underneath the deck. The calibration you need to do with a CLOSED deck. The metal of the transformer influences the meter quite some bit. All these things are covered by the meter calibration. The little pot meter is sealed with laquer.

Would it be safe to solder a wire directly from the ground lug on the mains plug to the ground pin holder?

thanks

Hi bakelite

Welcome to the club of L3-3 owners! Show us some photos of your tester. Did you buy NOS? Is it working fine? What was the price? ;)
