L3-3 does not give meter readings for the heaters

Post by jimmy74 »

I've just received another L3-3, hopefull this time I will have more luck. Anyways as the title says the meter does not give readers for the heaters even though there is heater voltage which can be measured by an external multimeter.

here are some photos of the tester:

As you can see 2 of the tubes are missing (they were smashed during shipping).
Let me know what you think

thanks

I have finally received the tubes that were crushed during shipping, I have installed them, and after turning the tester on for 30 minutes, I proceeded to doing the CETb test but this is the result:

I think maybe a problem with the meter or with the switch itself. Any ideas?

thanks

Hi Jimmy,

what you see is normal :))

You have to use a card.

Then, the heater voltage is as on that card, AC or DC.

If the card is AC it is fixed. If the card is DC, you can control the voltage.

Then, with a card, you will be happy to see all other voltages too. These you
must select with the selector knob, and press the "test" button. Otherwise
you only see the heater voltage still. You don't need a tube for that,
try it with some cards first. Then when the things you do, seem
logical, it is time to try it with a tube.

With a tube inserted, and results make no sense, remove the tube right
away. Do not continue and not know what is wrong, as the tester
can be damaged by mistakes.

Best regards,
Jac
